Ria Torres, is an employee of The Lightman Group who is considered a “natural”, meaning that she developed her ability to read people through her own personal history, dealing with abuse as a child. Torres is a former TSA agent who is hired in the pilot episode by Lightman and Foster after passing their test. Torres has natural talent, but initially lacks the academic education and training also needed to be a successful deception detector. Once hired, however, Torres quickly catches on and becomes Dr. Lightman’s protege.

Raymund is best known for her role in Lie to Me, though is also recognized for her roles in The Good Wife and Chicago Fire. Raymund married and later divorced writer Neil Patrick Stewart. Raymund is an avid supporter of LGBT rights and publically came out as bisexual in 2014.
